Why this song in particular? I don’t know. I like The All-American Rejects and their songs, but it’s just not that.
I chose this line from the song Mona Lisa because I found it beautiful and comforting. I think it’s sweet if someone tells me that he/she will sit beside me when the world comes down.
It’s like saying, “I’ll stay with you until the end.” Or, “I don’t care if the world is ending, as long as I get to spend my last hours with you.” (Morbid but cute.) Another interpretation would be, “Don’t be scared, I’ll be with you.” Honestly, the list just goes on. It depends on how you interpret it.
Oh, by the way… Let me tell you, I had a hard time choosing a line from my favorite song because I listen to a lot of songs and I like most of them so I can’t really pick just one.
When judging if a song is any good, I mainly rely on the melody first. However, take out the melody and all you have are words. If the lyrics are meaningful and totally relatable, the song stays in my playlist. If the lyrics don’t have any sense— I don’t care how catchy the melody is— then I delete the song.
It’s easy as that. Don’t you just wish you could do the same to people?
First, the appearance. Of course it’s the first thing we notice on people. But then, looks are nothing. Strip away the clothes, the make-up (for girls), the abs (for boys), the pretty/handsome face…take all those away, and what do you get?
In the end, it’s really the substance that matters.
