Gyeongbokgung Palace, November 2011
I chose this photo because it signifies a merger between culture and modernization, the old and the new.
This ancient palace is situated in the heart of Seoul, surrounded by new infrastructures and establishments. I like the fact that despite the progression of the city and the continuous modernization, the Koreans were able to preserve their majestic palaces, as well as the old houses and villages.
This is proof indeed, that there is no need to sacrifice culture and heritage in order to pave the way for technological advancements and economic growth.
Culture and modernization can go hand-in-hand.
