It slipped my mind that the closing date was 19th of April. I went to their site this morning and found this notice: The Picnik is over.
Picnik had always been a very efficient tool for editing photos. I’m not very techie, so most of the time I just do my editing using Picnik. People can still access the editing tools using Google+ though, that’s where they moved their filters and all. Good thing I have a Google+ account!
Here’s how you can edit photos:
1. Log in to your Google+ account, upload photos.
2. Once the photo is uploaded, click the pencil image below the picture.
3. Voilá! You can now edit your photos using Picnik.
You will see the familiar filters that we have come to know and love. Some were already removed, but there were also several additions to the selection.
By the way, I had the chance to edit a few photos before Picnik perished. Here they are:
Bus ride around Seoul (Focal Zoom effect)
Inside an elevator at the N Seoul Tower (Black and White effect)
At Changdeokgung Palace (1960’s effect)
I will really miss the old Picnik. Though in the end, this is still better than nothing, right?
